In 1946, the U.S. Navy Mine and Bomb Disposal Schools combined at Bellevue Annex of Naval Gun Factory, then moved to Naval Powder Factory, Indian Head, MD, on Jackson Road. The new training course was designated as Explosive Ordnance Disposal, giving birth to "EOD."
